#atallwehavebecome

  1. Listen to your student's stories. That's how you'll help them to grow.

  2. Differentiate! Differences are strengths.

  3. Be focused on the details and be confident in your preparation.

  4. Your small actions have a large impact.

  5. Broaden their exposure. You never know what'll click.

  6. Community with your fellow teachers is invaluable! They'll support you and you them.

  7. The classroom is just the start. Connect to the outside world to deepen connection.

  8. Your passion will translate to your students.

  9. Don't be afraid to go off script.

  10. We learn and grow Together. Build a community first in your classroom.

This semester allowed for so much experience in events such as leading BRAINY tours, Family Day, mini lessons on reading, and our Peer Teaching Project which were completely different than the in-school days I spent at Wellington because we learned how to take the lead and think on our feet and start to get a feel for the type of classroom we want to create in the future which lead to me changing a few of my philosophies such as not being afraid to be flexible and trusting in your preparation. I still heavily lean on the importance of learning your student's stories and diversity/differentiation, as well as driving our lessons to connect to the larger world and community to deepen connections and really inspire. This semester I became really close with a lot of my fellow teachers and that especially highlighted the importance of a teaching community as well.

This art journal, I want to try out a technique which I might use for the final project. I have so many random pieces of paper floating around my art bin and they're all so beautiful! Even though they are vastly different sizes and shapes and colors, I want to try creating a piece where I can compile them all together to represent the coming together of all my learned ideas and new philosophies and to connect to my big idea of the differences being something beautiful in the classroom and in the world.
